Happy New Year everyone!
It has been a long time since our last blog post but the reason for that was we've been so busy with projects and customers that writing a blog post has always been pushed back and to the bottom of the pile.
However, today is the time to put that right - particularly as there is some time available whilst travelling by train.
Since the last update we've been busy improving yagmap as you would expect. Most of the improvements have been around the data collection side and we are now able to support the upload of file attachments of any kind via the desktop forms. Mobile support will come although at present HTML5 support by the major vendor's browsers is not as complete as on the desktop side. We are also able to provide you with the ability to allow different access permissions to the captured form data, so somebody can review and amend the data that has been input, certain questions can be included on a form that are visible only to the reviewer which is great if data quality notes need to be added.
One form feature that we're really pleased with is the ability to now support complex scripts that can pretty much do what ever you can dream up. As an example, we have completed projects included complex scoring algorithms and complex form logic.
On the messaging side, and we're pretty excited about this one, we now support push notifications on devices that use the Google Chrome browser, so most Android devices and MACs/PCs using Chrome. This means that any new group message you receive you will now get a push notification to your device letting you know, even if you're not actually on yagmap at the time! Best of all, this is configurable per device so you could have notifications received on both your mobile and laptop, but not on your tablet. As support improves, we will bring this to other browsers and devices, with Firefox browser looking like it's going to be the next to support the required technologies. To enable this on your device or Chrome browser, simply go to the settings area (click on the cogs icon) and if your browser supports the required technologies you'll be able to activate this functionality.
